Equal Time

I guess over the years I have been very hard on Republicans (although they do deserve it), but for balance, I have to admit the Dems, although less obvious, are just as stupid.  Besides that the current President is such a pussy and is in the pay of Wall Street.  He doesn't have the stones to admit what a back room hustle he is and gives liberals  a  reach around once in a while to keep them quiet.  I think that Lewis Black said it best (and I paraphrase) :  The Republicans are the party of bad ideas and the Democrats are the party that can take a bad idea and make it worse.

The above is for those that take the time to read my rants that may be of Republican persuasion.  I just want you to feel a little better.

I noticed a headline in the Huff Post that reminded me that irony is not dead:  The headline announce that a man was shot dead at an "End of the World" party.  (Mayans must get a kick out of that)

Before I forget it I have read some 27 books this year   Here is a list of 21 of them

The Rise And Fall of British Naval Mastery
The Generals: American Military Command from World War II to Today
500 Days: Secrets and Lies in the Terror Wars
After Iraq: Anarchy and Renewal in the Middle East
Guerrilla Leader: T. E. Lawrence and the Arab Revolt
The Betrayal of the American Dream
The Fatal Shore: The Epic of Australia's Founding
The Dust Of Empire: The Race For Mastery In The Asian Heartland
Bailout: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street
Patton, Montgomery, Rommel: Masters of War
A People's History of the United States: 1492-Present
Confront and Conceal: Obama's Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power

Pakistan on the Brink: The Future of America, Pakistan, and Afghanistan
Private Empire: ExxonMobil and American Power

Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001

A Peace to End All Peace: The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle East
Griftopia: Bubble Machines, Vampire Squids, and the Long Con That Is Breaking America
As you may see these are not best sellers but they have allowed me to see current events in a context the helps me understand  how silly we are.

Happy New Year all
