And now for something completely different!
The other day I was watching TV and watching some item on flooding or poverty or some such run of the mill everyday Apocalypse. As I switch channels I came across an item on Paris Hilton and how she lives.
Now, I am not prone to tarry over Paris Hilton or any other such "bimbo" from Hollywood. Here however, is a woman, that is entirely the creature of a marketing system that is out of control. She has no discernible talent and has made no contribution society other than employing a huge gaggle of PR flacks. What did catch my attention though was the opulence in which she lives. Which by the way, is excessive by anyone's view.
But a rant against Paris Hilton was not what got me. What got me was I could no longer understand the delta between the run of the mill apocalyptic events seen on the news and the existence of Paris Hilton. I could not hold those two concepts in my mind at the same time. I was no longer able to do so. It is not creeping old age or other such signs of being 68. Instead it is a sign that we have become so capable of delivering these two concepts at the same time. The result is a cognitive dissonance that can not be reconciled. Anyway I thought I would share this "revelation" so anyone out there can see the signs that "we are all bozo's on this bus".
As another item here is an article I belive well worth the read.
The Collapse of Complex Business Models
The author discusses how the complexity of our existing structures are condemned to collapse because they cannot do other wise. As I was reading it I was thinking about the financial collapse of Wall St. in particular. I hope you enjoy it
As a final note presented for you view pleasure is some new work.
