Aside from my sometime sarcastic world view, I none the less hold some things very close and prized above all else. One of those thing is my love for the democratic form of government and our history of trying to perfect that Ideal. A history that has not always been sterling. Notwithstanding those lapses, the overriding theme has been our willingness to change in our attempt to reach that perfection.
The current administration and the individual that holds the highest office currently has brought me to disgust and pain by their activities and view of our government and its purpose. I was just reading about GWBush and the cast of thugs that his Attorney General depended on for the most disgusting rational for torture. It figures that GW would approve it. He is without a doubt, the most indifferent person to ever occupy the White house and is for all practical purposes a bully. Considering some of the liars and thieves that have been in that building, I realize that it is quite a statement to make, but should give you some idea of what a low opinion I posses of him. His bullying attitude and indifference is manifested by his lackey, the former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. The Attorney General enabled the agency, that represents us to the world, to engage in activities that give the legal profession a new low. (if that is at all possible). GW, likewise, is so indifferent and stupid that he could not or would not stop his Vice President from running the administration through VP's paranoia world. The net result is an administration that has turned its back on America and guess what.. is un-American.
What is appalling is that they don't even know it.
GW has always been the bully and in the past (at Yale), manifested that indifference and cruelty but it has been always carefully papered over. His whole life has depended on his Daddy and connections to get his ass out of a jam. History will not be kind.
As Bush had to purge Iraq of the Bathist party l believe that when this administration leaves we will have to de-Bushify our government of all traces of this plague that we have brought on to ourselves. (Damm that sounds awfully biblical). And iIf by chance, the gods should line up on our side, then the people of that outgoing administration will be publicly shunned (in the alternative, crucified) as war criminals Only then can start on that painful path of trying to redeem ourselves in the eyes of the world.
I apologize if this un-quiets your mind dear reader, it is not my purpose to do so. However, the day seems to press on me in a way that makes this little missive mandatory
The above brings to mind this piece of dialog from the movie "The Thin Red Line"
"How'd it break up and come apart? So that now we're turned against each other.
Each standing in the other's light. How did we lose the good that was given us?
Let it slip away? Scatter it carelessly? What's keeping us from reaching out and touching the glory?"
As a closing I must remember that I should remember:“There isn’t any maliciousness in this state of affairs it’s just a conspiracy of dysfunction.”
See you next time.
